So to explain, I was looking at the LeetStreet Boys Comic-Wide Eyed Princess Pt 10.

The Question of the day was "Have you ever saved the princess?"

My Personal response was


"Princess will steal the man I do not want that to happen. *reinforces the wonder of her cage and laughs evily* Take that pretty princess. I’ma get me a prince or handsome adventurer or Knight, or nerd. "


I thought it would make a cool discussion (though i'm not sure of the placement.)

So what is your thoughts on Saving a Prince or Princess? Or on the Disney Ideal of a romantic relationship. Meet, Fall in love, Marry?

Not sure how this will pick up but thought it was interesting.

Hmmm well lets see if I'm able to come up with something...... nope I got nothing. For the first part anyways. As far as your mention of the Disney ideal of a romantic relationship, I find it's all to simple and unrealistic. Real relationships are always much more complex and tend to take longer to really develop as opposed to the common film variant of, "Hey I met you 2 days ago and I've realized you are my true love and we're perfect for each other! Lets get married and live happily ever after now!" On the opposite end of that spectrum you have drama tv shows which have way too much drama and tend to be just as unrealistic.

But if the Disney version of things were real, well I still wouldn't like things to work like that. I like things to be complex and confusing and stuff. Though... this isn't always a good thing cause my overworking mind tends to find ways to make things complicated even when they should be simple and I tend to torture myself. -_- I tend to keep such thoughts to myself and work through the fact that I need to stop with all the fantasizing, I think I watch way too much anime and play too many video games, because real life just isn't interesting enough for me.

I agree with you Zan. Especially the last few sentances. Life has gotten boring when the books we read or the shows we watch and even the games we play, are more exciting.

I guess i also didn't make this very simple. oh well. maybe it will get to being more of a discussion thread as things go on.

Well I think the worst part of it is I just have a very overactive imagination, and my dreams don't help it any. Life just seems so dull lately, but that's probably mostly my own fault since I have yet to do anything since graduating high school. I'm working on it though! lol
Here's a thought kinda related to the topic, if you could have a romance similar to one in an anime, which anime would you want to live within?

Ohh That's a hard one. Hmm...I really don't know about that. There aren't many i like because the relationships are very often your the only one for me from the very beginning. Though that is something to treasure. The other thing nearly all of my favorite animes are favorites, not because of the underlying love story it's the character design. I guess i don't read a lot of books for romance unless they are strickly romance novels. Even Shojo isn't just about the love. Though after seeing a well done video of Love.com i'm interested and think it would be a fun world to live in.

I have an overactive imagination to, though for me it is a very good thing because it means i can think of stories and works for my animation classes and see what should be done when working on something. (I'm a Junior in college studying animation.)

sweet. Stumping = awesomeness. yeah still haven't thought of one i read/watch purely for the romantic content, that makes me want to say i would live in that world because of romance.

Well... uh... in videogames, yeah. xD In life... um... no. xD I be the princess! xD And I don't needs savin'. =] I save myself. xD

As for anime romances... ummm....

I actually like a lot of them, including the ones where they are like, "OMG I've loved you since the first time I saw you!"
But definitely not because of that fact. I look at more... how they act when they are with eachother and such.
Since "Love at first site" is either VERY hard to find or near impossible. lol

Some of my favorite romances are more like... the ones where they don't know they love each other, but everyone else does.
I don't know, I think it's cute. xD
For example, Ouran High School Host Club, or The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

Now that I think about it... most of the anime I've seen is like that. xD So I guess it's not much of an example. lol

Simon's and Nia's relationship in Gurren Lagann always seemed pretty cute... and how cool would it be to live in a world where you could make just about anything happen by screaming your head off and through the sheer power of determination? lol

As far as something I actually watch for the romantic content, the only thing that comes to my mind is Strawberry Panic which despite the cute fluffyness* of the series, can't say I would want to live in that world. I wouldn't fit in very well being that it's a romance where all the characters are female and there are no male characters at all in that show. XD

(*I refer to romance type series as "fluffy")

I think one that i could truely Say that i do enjoy Romances where they don't know they are in love. But for me the one that takes the cake for me Is B Gata H Kei yes it is ecchi but the way they act around each other is just so cute.
