If you realize a dream is a dream partway through the dream is it possible to will things to happen in the dream?
Are you really dreaming at that point or are you just in that partially awake/partially asleep state and you're just thinking of stuff based on the dream you were having before waking up?
on this note: this is actually a documented phenominon it's called 'lucid dream' it is essientially as how you described, a dream in which the dreamer is essesntially awake and in control of, to answer the first part: yes you actually can control what happens in the dream, you essentially can do ANYTHING you wish... and i mean ANYTHING, as for the second part: essentially yes you are still dreaming your body is still in a state of REM or Rapid Eye Movement which indicated deep sleep.
thats all i really know about that XD. that, and my weird future telling-deja vu dream things XD

I have those dreams too. Except mine were, I had the dreams when I was really young. It was filled with people I didn't know at the time, yet I felt like I knew them really well. Now that I'm older, I can barely avoid that deja vu feeling and can even remember what will happen in those dreams before they happen in the actual occurrence. xD I've proven that to a bunch of my friends already. xD Like one time, I went camping with a bunch of friends, and as soon as I got out of the car, I was like, "LEAH! Come here!" when she did, I was like, "I had a dream about this once.... Dan is about to jump out of the car like an idiot and skin his knee." Almost as soon as I was done speaking, we heard swearing. xD Dan had jumped out of the vehicle and skinned his knee. She just kinda looked at me like, "What are you!?" xD Good times. The only thing is I have never seemed to dream of anything of importance. xD It's all just random little tidbits where nothing abnormal is hapenning.

XD you guys ae creepy... in a good way XD, oh im sorry ookami, i never meant you of course ^.^ (jk)
my deja vu dreams are similar, cept i never recall them unitl the EXACT moment they happen like the one time: i was riding the exceedingly long bus ride to my summer job and i had my head tilted to the left for some reason or another, probably cuz i was looking out the window, then the bus stopped to pick people up, as the people got on the bus started to move again, one person began to sit in my line of sight and as she did, it hit me, not just the person but the whole thing, the moving enironment outside the window, the song playing on my MP3, the lady now sitting ifront of where i was looking, i KNOW i had seen this event once before. it's just so creepy yaknow XD i wish i couls control it sometimes XD thats why i've been looking into controling lucid dreams, there is actually a technique to do it but i can't seem to manage it :S

And it sucks. xD But it's also super weird. It's often made me sit down and contemplate the whole meaning and make of "time" and "reality". Which then makes me feel weird, like I'm in the Matrix or something. xD

XD no zanshlou its... *sigh* i dont even know where to BEGIN with that....
i honestly don't know where i stand with time and it's "shape" but what i know from steven hawking (sp?) is that travelling backwards though time is impossible, if it were possible then it would create the posibility for paradoxes, meaning that it would ALSO be possible to change the future which would prove that time is not linear, there are several theories as to why traveling backwards is not possible but the most simple is... actually still quite complicated... but this alone doesn't prove time is linear, there is the infinite multi-verse theory that states that with every choice there comes a number of posibilities and with each of those posibilities is born another universe, a parallel universe, that follows that divergance in fate, although this is yet to be proven. as for zanshlou's simple explination of cyclical history... that relies more on human nature than quantum physics... but it is a... unique explanation of how it works... XD
*looks back* ... ... yea... imma total nerd XD, i watch too much discovery channel... >.>
